We envision greatness in our children and in our community. We want to stimulate, to inspire, to ignite a flame that will cause students of all ages to dream beyond their imaginations — to strive individually and collectively to do great things. We embrace art and culture in our work to reawaken faith and hope — to remind us of the best in ourselves — the beauty in us — our strength, our pride, our determination as a people to achieve excellence — to cause us to celebrate our collective identity, honor those who came before, and to build a community that arouses greatness in the next generation.

Hold fast to dreams

For if dreams die

Life is a broken-winged bird

That cannot fly

Hold fast to dreams

For when dreams go

Life is a barren field

Frozen with snow

                        Langston Hughes
